Chapelle-licious

Go see Dave Chapelle's Block Party right now. This minute. Leave the oven on. Abandon your kids. Don't bother putting on pants. Just GO.

It's seriously the most amazing and inspiring movie I've seen in years. It's funny, touching, and, most of all, incredibly artistically satisfying. You fall in love with all the musicians, all the audience members, and your genial host Mr. Chapelle, who might be the funniest person on Earth. If you love music, comedy, life, humanity, Brooklyn, Ohio, America, or anything else, then you gotta go see this film. It's for lovers. Not haters. Haters should stay home. And put on some damn pants.

Snarky adendum: I was listening to NPR in my car (because I live in greater Boston where hearing at least one daily installment of "All Things Considered" is required by law), and these people -- my people -- caused me great shame. One lady was like, "...featuring musicians like Common and Eryka Badu," only she said Badu as "b'DOO," like the same way you'd say "bidet." What the fuck lady. You learn how to pronounce "Ahmadinejad," you oughta learn how to say "Ba-du" before you go on the air. And then some dude pronounced Mos Def's name "Ma's Deaf," which is just ridiculous and reveals he's never listened to a damn nanosecond of the man's music because HE SAYS HIS OWN NAME FOR YOU ALL THE DAMN TIME. If the genius of the Mighty Mos Def is not your cup of tea, that's fine (your loss), but when Terry Gross interviews somebody for 45 effing minutes on "Fresh Air," you should learn how to say that person's NAME in order to properly promote the show and not sound like a total cracker-ass douchebag. Come on, NPR. Hasn't hanging out in New Orleans for the past eight months given you the tiniest bit of soul?

i agree!!

First, that movie was ridiculously off the hook. Definitely a DVD purchase.

And shame on NPR!
